Professor Dan Ralescu is the coauthor of the first comprehensive textbook on fuzzy sets and systems (published in 1974). He received his PhD at Indiana University, Bloomington, with a Thesis in statistical decision theory. He is a Professor at the University of Cincinnati. Since the mid 1970s, he has pioneered the concept of fuzzy random variable, and its applications. Professor Ralescu has published more than sixty papers, and he is the coauthor of five books. He is an Advisory Editor of the Journal of Fuzzy sets and Systems, Int. J. of Uncertainty, Fuzziness, and Knowledge-Based Systems, an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Applied Fuzzy Sets Theory. His research interests include decision theory, probability in Banach space, and mixed models of uncertainty. Professor Ralescu has lectured widely all over the World, and he is a frequent visitor at Universities in Japan. |
